Off the Beaten Track: Four Luxury Villas in Spain

There’s far more to Spain than the crowded beaches of the Costas. Head inland and you’ll discover plenty to write home about: rugged countryside, world-famous wines and nature trails that go on for miles. If you want to get away from it all then these four luxury villas in Spain, all of which include the Oliver’s Travels VIP Concierge and maid services, are perfect for a spot of relaxation.

1. Finca Nouveau, Castilla La Mancha

Finca Nouveau lies on the outskirts of the medieval city of Sigüenza, sitting in a huge three million acre estate in the Henares River Valley. You can easily spend a whole week exploring the grounds, and even then you’d need to hire a car to do them justice. The villa is decorated in the traditional 19th century style, so you’ll feel just like you’ve stepped back in time to the days when the Habsburgo monarchs would visit.

2. Cortijo Viejo, Arcos de la Frontera

Olive groves and orange trees surround this property, but the real star of the Cortijo Viejo orchard is the famous 500-year-old Ombu tree. According to legend, a missionary had just reached the place he wished to die when he fell to the ground, and the Ombu seed, which he’d carried from the New World, slipped out from his pocket. With its ancient mysteries and rural surroundings, Cortijo Viejo villa is an excellent choice for a remote retreat with all the family. It’s also a great place to indulge in some Andalusian cooking, with the town of Jerez de la Frontera, where sherry grapes come from, within driving distance.

3. Blanco de Caza

Blanco De Caza is the perfect year-round getaway, with fragrant gardens during the summer and the comfort of a roaring fire during the winter. The villa is particularly well located for nature lovers, as you can watch over the  beautiful vineyards, the olive groves and above all the peak of La Maroma (the highest mountain in the region). You can take part in an offsite cultural and culinary expedition or enjoy a spa and beauty treatment, everything is possible here.

4. Casa Arenera, Cantabria

Mountain views on one side and tranquil beaches on the other give visitors to Casa Arenera the best of both worlds. This luxury villa is on Spain’s Costa Verde, a stretch of coastline that has thankfully avoided mass tourism. While you’re not guaranteed sunshine in the north of Spain, Cantabria more than makes up for this with its cuisine. This area is particularly well-known for its strong cheeses, including Picón Bejes-Tresviso and quesucos Liébana, and fresh seafood from the Atlantic Ocean.
